Some see, few know, many choose to wander aimlessly in a fog, devoid of sunlight. I seek the light of day and leave the others to their chosen realm of ignorance. They are the ones who have brought this great nation down. I write only for the benefit of those who possess the courage required to restore our birthright.

BLAZING A NEW TRAIL - Submitted by Shannon Ward

This is the launch of a journey that I am both looking forward to with excitement and with trepidation. I love history, politics, literature. Writing about things that influence who we are is a responsibility that I approach very seriously. I do not pretend to be 'politically correct' because I am not. I love the country of my birth. I have always been proud of my country, but not so proud of some of our leaders. They represent not the country founded on the Judeo/Christian principles but serve their own agenda, and in service to their personal goals have done extensive damage to the dreams of our Founders and the efforts of our people.

In future writings I will revisit many of the founding principles. The search for the freedom that our founding fathers fought for was fraught with danger. They pledged "their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor."

Through my writing I would like to be part of the rebirth of the honor and values of America as a nation; a nation that was founded with a firm belief in God, with honor being one of our values. We, as a nation, have not always been right. We have faltered as most humans and nations will, because we are not perfect. After all, as a nation we were formed from diverse backgrounds. Our forefathers left their homelands to find a new beginning and freedom from oppression. They found it here and in doing so continued in the building of the greatest, and most unique, nation the world has ever known.

We The People, of America have formed, not a perfect union, but one that offers the opportunity to thrive as individuals. That quest for opportunity has brought out the best in many of our people, and it is a quest that must not be allowed to die. Perfection is beyond the realm of humanity, but our goals, with their failings, were best described by the Founders words of 'A more perfect union'.

We need to educate our youth on the history of our great nation. Through the education of our youth we can preserve our nation for the future. If we fail in our responsibilities in educating our children we will have failed to preserve their future.

With the encouragement and the support of my friend Danny I will be embarking on the journey of a blogger. I look forward to creating pieces that will engage the reader to further research topics.

Topics that will include history and also current events. I will also include information on books that I have found helpful in my own journey to rediscover our country. As Ronald Reagan referred to "a shining city on the hill." The quote is from John Winthrop in 1630. We look forward to bringing our country back to being that beacon, that "Shining City On The Hill."
